Tasted blind. Mid garnet. Again that dustiness and a bit metallic and meaty. Dryish tannins but not without elegance in its structure. Very dry. (JH)

The 2013 La Gaffelière has a simple, earthy, gravel-tinged bouquet that needs more fruit intensity. The palate is pointed on the entry, rather bitter with meaty red fruit, slightly gamey with a very dry, austere finish. This is just so-so I am afraid.

Ripe and satisfying nose – juicy but savoury. Good purity and fragrance on the palate, softly structured and easy-going to drink. A hint of milk chocolate and pepper on the finish. Clearly well-selected fruit that has provided cleanliness and balance, but there is very limited complexity. (RH)

Gorgeous fruit character here – surprisingly developed , fleshy and pure. Lovely coffee scent too. Fine tannic dusting on the finish and a long, impressive finish. Again, it has the signature lightness of 2013, but that needn’t always be a bad thing. The balance is good here, and the flavours are very charming. (RH)
