Score 95/100 · Drink 2020-2033, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Feb 2018

Thomas Studach's 2015 Malanser Pinot Noir displays a fantastically precise, generous (and still toasty) bouquet of both flinty slate and refreshing chalky aromas, intertwined with deep, ripe, intense, fine and refreshing berry and floral aromas. The palate is silky, round and highly elegant but also steely-mineral and fresh. It has concentrated, perfectly ripe dark cherry and berry fruit with super fine, perfectly integrated acidity and firm yet fine tannin structure. This is a highly delicate Pinot Noir with a long, aromatic, energetic and truly mouthwatering finish. The aftertaste shows fine fruit flavors of cherries and dark berries but also refreshing lemon flavors and the crystalline nature of schist. This is a great terroir wine from a great vintage, and it's almost impossible to spit out. Even more impossible is finding a bottle, though. Whenever you spot it on a wine list, arrest the sommelier! Tasted in February 2018, this is one of the finest Pinot Noirs I have had from Switzerland.
