Tasting notes
The 2018 Faurie de Souchard, which was so impressive in barrel, continues to convey real class now in bottle. It has an intense bouquet of slightly earthy black fruit laced with pencil lead and light blood orange aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite opulent in style, but it retains superb balance and there is a welcome spiciness that lends dimension on the finish. This is very promising but it needs 3–4 years in bottle.

Another gem of a 2018 is the 2018 Château Faurie De Souchard. Offering a ruby/purple hue as well as gorgeous cassis and black raspberry fruits, it has lots of spice, dried flowers, and sandalwood notes, medium to full body, ripe, silky tannins, and just a seamless, already delicious, balanced style that's going to drink nicely for 15 years.
The 2018 Faurie de Souchard is incredibly charming, just as it was from barrel. Crushed flowers, raspberry, white pepper, mocha and mint give the 2018 a very pretty aromatic top register to play off its mid-weight personality. The 2018 is inviting, immediate and impossible to resist, but I imagine it will be even better in another few years' time.
