This is balanced, graceful, white pepper spice, complex and concentrated with pencil lead and grilled oak. Plenty of raspberry leaf and violet flowers, showing precision and grace - less Pomerol signature than the warmer vintages, but it is a delicious wine with plenty of life ahead. 35% new oak.

The 2011 Nénin has a loose-knit bouquet, almost Burgundy-like in style, with brambly red fruit (raspberry and crushed strawberry) plus a touch of sous-bois. The palate is quite sharp and a little rustic, particularly if you compare it to more superior, recent vintages. Slightly bitter on the finish, this Pomerol should be drunk in the near future.
Tasted blind. Mid ruby. Muddy nose. Sweet start and no excesses on the palate. Very fluid. Not much tannin in evidence. Perhaps not a great bet for long-term cellaring but at least it’s a good drink! Good persistence. (JR)
