Tasting notes
The 2020 Pinot Noir Royal St. Robert has a more rustic expression, with scents of mushrooms, autumn leaves and woodsmoke over a core of cranberry and blackberry. The medium-bodied palate is chalky and rounded with earth-laced flavors and an earthy finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.

The 2020 Pinot Noir Royal St. Robert is a very pretty, nuanced wine. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, dried flowers, herbs and a kiss of orange zest all grace this mid-weight, beautifully perfumed Pinot. There is very slight touch of astringency in the tannin, but that is a very small critique for a Pinot that offers so much sensuality and pure class. This is an impressive showing from Raen.
Elegant nose. Contained, ripe, rippling with a frisson of pepper. Really intense but exquisitely pretty. Little helical swirls of melt-your-heart fruit and Turkish delight but really rather serious, and fine, and fine-ground structure behind that. Lavender fragrance lifts through the finish and up the back of the throat; long, and cool.
Cranberry and strawberry aromas and flavors with lemon rind and crushed stones. Medium-bodied with a red-fruit and citrusy finish. Tight and serious. Better after 2024.
