Tasting notes
More elegant and finesse-driven now from bottle, the 2019 Clos Haut-Peyraguey has beautiful white peach, honeyed apricot, baking spice, ginger, and orange zest nuances in a medium to full-bodied, pretty, elegant, layered style. It's not a blockbuster but shines for its seamless, balanced, pure profile. Drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years.

The 2019 Clos Haut-Peyraguey has a slightly oaky nose indicative of a Sauternes requiring more bottle age. This just needs time to cohere, though there is freshness and concentration. The palate is well-balanced with a smooth and viscous entry, dried honey commingling with dried apricot and persimmon, moderate length on the finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.
Tasted blind. Sweet nose of glucose. Very broad and a little loose-textured. Fine for relatively early drinking. (JR)
