Score 88/100 · Drink 1999-2003, Pierre Rovani, Apr 1998
Ninety percent of the grapes that went into the Chassagne-Montrachet are from the well-placed Encegnieres vineyard - it borders Batard-Montrachet to the north and west, Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseigneres to the northeast, and the premier cru Chassagne-Montrachet Vide Bourse to the southwest. It displays a fresh and pure nose composed of minerals and nuts as well as a very dry yet ripe, medium-bodied, delineated, and well-crafted character. White flowers and gravel can be discerned in its flavor profile as well as in its long and precise finish. Anticipated maturity: 1999 to 2003. Importer: Robert Chadderdon Selections, New York, NY; tel (212) 775-8185.
