The 2015 Noaillac is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 55% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot matured in barrel for 12 months. It has a generous bouquet with blackberry and boysenberry fruit, cedar and graphite, just a little warmth coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, rounded and sweet with hints of Chinese 5-spice and clove liberally sprinkled over the finish. Very fine. Tasted at the Oenoconseil tasting room in Bordeaux.

The 2015 Château Noaillac is another charming, rounded, elegant Cru Bourgeois that gives up pretty notes of raspberries, strawberries, and dried flowers. Drink this straightforward, moderately concentrated effort over the coming 5-6 years.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Noaillac has a clean and ripe bouquet with ample blackberry and boysenberry fruit, a slight marine influence surfacing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with soft and supple tannin. This is very velvety in texture, almost to the point where I would have liked more reserve and a tad more dryness on the finish. This is one case where the 2014 might turn out better than its successor. Tasted September 2017.

55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. There’s a nice bonfire quality to the nose here, giving an extra dimension to the very dark black fruit character. Some floral notes too – good early complexity here. Finishes with spicy, well-integrated oak influence. GV (RH)
