2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Val de Dieu

A fabulous showing here with all of its ripe, fresh, meaty red fruits, spice, smoke and floral elements on the nose and palate. Fresh, ripe, supple, long and complex, the concentrated wine finishes with loads of juicy, sweet kirsch along with touches of spice and herbs in the endnote. The wine was made blending roughly 60% Grenache and 25% Syrah with 15% Mourvedre . Drink from 2023 - 2035 95 Points

As always, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Val De Dieu has a modern vibe without losing its Southern Rhône soul. A blend of 58% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 12% Mourvèdre that’s brought up 30% new demi-muids, it offers a pure, full-bodied, perfectly ripe style that carries lots of black raspberry and cassis fruits, notes of peppery spice, some background oak, silky tannins, and a great finish. As always, the purity of fruit is top notch. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 15.

58% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre. Aged for 18 months in demi-muid (70%) and new barriques (30%). Cask sample. Tasted blind. Slight tobacco notes on the deep, dark-fruit-drenched nose. A nice leather note behind this wine. Sweet and fragrant and has a defined structure. Well-judged fruit. (AC)
