Tasting notes
Brought up all in barrel (45% new), the 2023 Les Hauts De Smith Blanc is 100% Sauvignon Blanc showing a medium gold hue as well as stone fruits, ripe citrus, white flowers, and blanched almond. It's gorgeously pure, medium-bodied, has clean, integrated acidity, and a great finish. Drink this solid effort over the coming 5-7 years. Drink 2026-2032.

The 2023 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc is laced with tangerine peel, mint, white pepper and candied lemon. There's a bit more textural richness than in most years, but that works quite well in a white that is meant to be enjoyed young.
The 2023 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc has a light nose with apple blossom, gooseberry and lemon thyme scents. The palate has an attractive texture, a little more creamy on the mid-palate than expected, fine acidity with a touch of almond and chai toward the finish. Fine.
About the producer

Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte is one of the leading lights of Pessac-Léognan today – all thanks to Daniel and Florence Cathiard, who took over the property in 1990 and have since transformed the estate, converting to biodynamics and crafting wines of increasing finesse.
