Score 86-87/100 · Drink 2006, Robert Parker, Feb 1999

The 1997 Coudoulet rouge is a blend of 30% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 20% Cinsault. It displays a deep ruby color, a smoky, roasted herb, licorice, leathery, berry richness, low acidity, and a lush, medium-bodied, heady finish. This advanced, evolved Coudoulet will require drinking over its first 5-6 years of life. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802

Medium red. Sappy aromas of cherry, roasted nuts, tar and damp earth. Full and fat but surprisingly fresh and delineated. Ripe flavor of dark chocolate. Firm and shapely on the finish.
