Tasting notes
The 2018 Rosso San Giorgio lifts from the glass with a perfumed bouquet, as violet florals mix black currants and white smoke. It washes across the palate with finesse, silky yet lifted and spry, as a saturation of wild berries and savory spice adds tension toward the close. A coating of grippy tannins is left to linger, as the 2018 fades to bitter notes of tart cherry and dark chocolate. This is a more immediate vintage for San Giorgio, which should provide pleasure after only a short stay in the cellar.

A refined red with good tension and intensity, showing clean black fruit and hints of wild herbs and licorice. Medium-bodied with a deep, silky core of fruit and very fine tannins. Long, nicely controlled finish. 50% cabernet sauvignon and 50% sangiovese. Delicious even now, but will continue to improve. Best from 2023.
