The 2023 Verdignan has a fresh bouquet with lively blackberry and briar scents, well-integrated oak, delineated and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, good body and gentle grip, leading to a cohesive and quite prolonged finish. This is a fine Haut-Médoc that might deserve a higher score with bottle age.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Verdignan shoots out with scents of fresh redcurrants and Bing cherries giving way to an undercurrent of pencil shavings and dried herbs with a touch of charcoal. The medium-bodied palate is vibrant and refreshing, with firm chewy tannins leading to a grippy finish.
This shows structure and weight in the mid-palate. Medium-bodied with velvety tannins and attractive fruit at the end.
The 2023 Verdignan has a more perfumed, floral bouquet than other Haut-Médoc barrel samples, with touches of mandarin and black pepper in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with forward, "thick" tannins that lend this weight and presence. It just feels a bit…cumbersome toward the finish. It’s not bad, though I preferred the 2022 last primeur.
