A fresh, lively wine, the 2023 Château Lespault-Martillac Blanc offers ripe pineapple, honeyed flowers, and tropical nuances on the nose. Medium-bodied, round, and supple on the palate, it has good acidity and a clean, classy, elegant style that's already drinking nicely today yet should have an easy decade of longevity or more. The 2023 Lespault-Martillac Blanc is soft, open-knit and creamy. Marzipan, white flowers, tangerine oil and citrus are all finely knit. Gentle, caressing contours frame the mid-palate and finish as this subtle dry white shows off its considerable charms. Tasted two times.
The 2023 Lespault-Martillac Blanc has quite a powerful bouquet with slightly oily citrus fruit, touches of lemon verbena coming through with time. Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with bright acidity, again quite intense with impressive weight, though perhaps it just needs a little more tension on the finish. But I appreciate the pepperiness on the finish, and it should age well in bottle.
The 2023 Château Lespault-Martillac Blanc is another terrific white in the vintage. Honeyed orange blossom, pineapple, and minty, floral notes all emerge on the nose, and it's medium-bodied, with beautifully integrated oak, good acidity, and outstanding length. Based on 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, aging in one-third new barrels, it’s well worth your time and money.
