Drink 2027-2050, Vinfolio, Apr 2024

The 2023 Langoa Barton offers a refreshing nose of dainty red-berry fruit and floral notes. On the palate, the wine is much rounder with rich fruit and lovely density. The tannins are velvety and mouth-coating, complemented by the generous dark fruit, building to a vibrant and sophisticated finish. This should be approachable before its sibling (Ch. Léoville Barton), but will age equally beautifully. Aged in 60% new oak, with 13% alcohol. Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2023 Château Langoa Barton spent 18 months in 60% new French oak before bottling. Cassis, graphite, spring flowers, and liquid minerality all shine here, and it's rich, medium to full-bodied, with a round, layered mouthfeel, just about flawless balance, and a gorgeous finish. It's the finest vintage of this I've tasted, so hats off to the estate’s team. It will evolve gracefully for 20-30 years. There are 8,333 cases produced. Drink 2026-2053.

The 2023 Langoa Barton is all class. There's a bit more fruit density and mid-palate weight than in most vintages, but all the elements are so well balanced. Succulent red cherry/plum fruit, rose petal, pomegranate, mint and sweet spice flesh out in the glass. What an absolute delight.

The 2023 Langoa Barton has a clean, well-defined, almost understated bouquet with blackberry, black plum and raspberry fruit, quite open and expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with finely wound tannins, graceful with ample weight on the mid-palate. No fireworks nor ostentation, lightly spiced with a cohesive finish, this Langoa Barton will age gracefully in bottle.
