With just under 2,000 cases produced, the 2023 Château Feytit-Clinet comes from one of my favorite producers in Pomerol, an estate located in the Clinet sector and run by Jérémy Chasseuil that's always worth seeking out. Based on 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc from gravel and clay soils and aged 15 months in 70% new French oak, it offers assorted darker berry fruits, scorched earth, chocolate, and leafy tobacco on the nose. On the palate, it's concentrated and full-bodied, with a broad, layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It's a rich, opulent, sexy wine in the vintage that's going to cruise for two decades or more. Drink 2026-2046.

The 2023 Feytit-Clinet is a powerful, explosive young Pomerol that is still coming together in bottle. Sumptuous blackberry fruit, licorice, chocolate, spice, cloves and new leather are all dialed up to the maximum. This opulent Pomerol delivers the goods, but it needs a few years in the cellar to be at its finest. Tasted two times.

The 2023 Feytit-Clinet has a perfumed, floral bouquet with violet and peony infusing the black cherry and blueberry fruit. Fine delineation and quite classy. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, gentle grip, a little powdery in texture toward the finish but it has the density to invite cellaring. One to watch (as usual).

Lots of blackberry, black truffle, dark chocolate and graphite aromas. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a crunchy, polished finish. Dark berry and orange peel undertones. Beautiful now, but best after 2027.
