The 2023 Clauzet is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of fresh blackberries and raspberries jump from the glass, followed by hints of cardamom, black pepper, and mossy tree bark. The medium-bodied palate is bright, soft, and easy going, with just enough expressive berry flavors and a savory finish.
This is compact and taut on the center-palate with medium body and a fine texture to the tannins that run smoothly across the palate, ending with a velvety texture. I like the freshness of the dark fruit here.
