Greve in Chianti. 100% Sangiovese. Unusually dark ruby for this very cool, short and rainy vintage. Raspberry with hints of cocoa bean on the nose. A tiny bit stalky on the palate with huge, lifted, succulent and perfumed raspberry and cocao bean aroma on the finish. A curious wine and not a little exotic. (WS)

From the Greve-in-Chianti subzone, the 2014 Chianti Classico is a raw and vinous wine that feels fresh from fermentation. There are plump aromas of black cherry and prune with cola and moist chewing tobacco. The effect is simple, but also very succulent. I am surprised, however, by the rich color and density achieved in this otherwise lean and watery vintage. This wine definitely defies the odds in terms of color intensity.
The 2014 Chianti Classico is bold, super-ripe and racy to the core. Black cherry, plum, spice and mint all race across the palate. This is an unusually concentrated wine for the year.
Greve in Chianti. Just mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Softly spiced cherry nose, and super-fresh, light cherry fruit palate with a spurt of gripping tannins on the finish. Well made. (WS)
