The 2016 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard Estate is fabulous. Bright, perfumed and finely sculpted, the Thieriot captures all the potential I sensed last year when I tasted it from barrel. As always, the Thieriot is a wine of tension, power and salivating energy. More than that though, the Thieriot oozes character.

I continue to love this vineyard and the 2016 Pinot Noir B.A. Thieriot Vineyard doesn’t disappoint. This rounded, elegant, classic Pinot Noir from Littorai offers complex notes of raspberries, blood orange, and exotic spices. It’s generous, elegant, and textured, with a core of sweet fruit. Drink it over the coming decade. This is another estate making a distinctly vibrant, fresh style of wine that’s going to appeal to the Burgundy lovers out there. It’s an incredibly educational tasting going through all these different single vineyards from Ted Lemon and these are interesting, singular wines. As a whole, the 2015s shows slightly more oomph compared to the 2016s, yet both vintages have vibrant acidity and balanced profiles. As expected, quantities are slightly up in 2016.
The 2016 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard Estate possesses striking depth and purity of fruit, with a core of red cherry, blood orange and hard candy that is attention grabbing. Sensual and polished, the Thieriot is super-impressive today. There is just so much to like. Whole cluster influence is not especially significant because the berries were very small and the juice was therefore naturally concentrated. Based on this tasting, the Thieriot is shaping up to be one of the highlights in this range. Don't miss it.
