A blend of parcels across Pouilly-Fumé, mainly on limestone-clay soils, the 2019 Florilege is a step up from Prelude due to the inclusion of older vines and longer aging on lees in both tank and concrete. The nectarine-fruited expression gently caresses the mouth. It has lovely depth on the mid-palate, a sense of weight and ripeness followed up by a sense of easy texture derived from mainly clay and limestone soils. Nicely balanced alcohol too at just 13% which is very moderate for this vintage.

Not much nose. Rich, ripe blackcurrant fruit (not leaves!) on the palate. Really juicy and mouth-filling. Not that much acidity evident but it's a well-balanced wine. (JR)

Pabiots's 2019 Pouilly Fumé Florilège comes from old vines selected from virtually all the vineyards of the family domain. The wine opens with a ripe and intense, quite warm yet vital bouquet with yeasty and flinty notes of ripe pears. Deep and with super ripe fruit on the palate, this is a full-bodied, aromatic and attractive Pouilly that doesn't develop the complexity and length of a great Pouilly but reveals fine tannins that will give good structure to age over a couple of years. Tasted in February 2021.

Certified organic and biodynamic (Demeter). Quite subdued on the nose. Seems to hunker down, gathering a heaviness of stone-ballasted citrus peel and a gauzy smoke screen to keep the drinker at bay. Some ripe peaches smeared in bitter Seville-orange marmalade tucked in behind that smoke screen. You could drink this now, but the real excitement won't unfold until at least a year or two in. Worth waiting for. (TC)
