Tasting notes
Approachable and long, the 2018 Barbaresco Paje boasts ripe tannins with a plush texture and displays a light rustic side, with ripe black raspberries, fresh flowers, and a rounded feel on the palate. It is long through the finish, with good ripeness in this vintage. Very approachable, it can be enjoyed now and over the next 15 years.

The 2018 Barbaresco Pajè is a brooding, inward wine. Mineral and savory notes dominate, while fruit is in the background. The Pajè has come together beautifully since I first tasted it a few months ago. The aromatics in particular are so expressive. Like all the 2018s here, the Pajè is a Barbaresco of understated complexity. It will be interesting to see if the nervy tannins soften a touch.
About the producer

Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
