Tasting notes
Bright ruby-red. Highly aromatic nose offers scents of kirsch , blueberry, spices and flowers. Sweet, sappy and harmonious, with excellent intensity and a light touch to the dark fruit and floral flavors. Impeccably balanced young vintage port, with bright, integrated acidity and ripe tannins that saturate the sides of the tongue. Subtle and quite long on the aftertaste. A splendid vintage for this bottling.

This is one of the very few Ports where you can discern a scintilla of over-ripeness on the prune and raisin-scented bouquet. It is very heady, but there is a little nail-varnish in the background. The palate is smooth and viscous on the entry – a hedonistic, fiery, honeyed, almost “unctuous” Vintage Port that needs to develop more restraint and reserve on the finish, which is slightly cloying. Hopefully it will meliorate with further aging. Tasted May 2013.
