Score 89/100 · Drink 2001-2005, Robert Parker, Dec 2001
The 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape white (a 30,000 bottle cuvee made from 39% Grenache Blanc, 15% Bourboulenc, 21% Clairette, and 25% Roussanne) exhibits a light straw color in addition to a rich, perfumed bouquet of pears, white flowers, and citrus. With excellent body, fruit, and texture, it should drink well for 3-4 years. This white had its malolactic fermentation blocked, which, based on my experience tasting 15-20 year old white Chateauneuf du Papes, means they tend to show extremely well young, fall into a dull, dumb, oxidized stage, only to re-emerge after a decade.
