The 2005 Laniote possesses admirable concentration and depth. Unfortunately, the aromatics have developed at faster pace, which make the wine feel unbalanced, as the tannins are still potent. The 2005 falls just short - it could have been a far better wine.

Probably one of the strongest efforts I have ever tasted from Laniote, this wine is normally made in a lighter style, but the 2005 is a big, juicy, succulent, fruit-driven, medium to full-bodied wine with loads of density, richness, and soft tannin. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Dark glowing crimson. Scented and lively on the nose. Rather well sculpted and fresh yet with lots of ripe fruit. A bit of minerality. Very good tightrope walker (not too alcoholic, not too tart, etc) even if this is not the most long lived wine. (JR)
