The 2019 La Commanderie represents one of the best recent releases from this Pomerol estate. The nose is generous, well-defined and focused, featuring quite precocious dark cherry and raspberry fruit; touches of gravel and clove emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied and cohesive, with pliant tannins and well-judged acidity, and, to put it in banal terms, just delicious on the finish. It seems fairly approachable but has the substance to age well in bottle.

The 2019 La Commanderie comes across as more forward than it did from barrel. Jammy dark cherry, cedar, tobacco, licorice, dried herbs and menthol are all kicked up. I would prefer to drink the 2019 sooner rather than later. There is certainly plenty to like.
Full bottle 1,274 g. Transparent garnet. Really pretty light nose. Rich palate entry with some rather obvious oak notes. Not the most sophisticated wine. Tarter than the average Pomerol. (JR)
A lovely Pomerol, one you would be very happy to open. Not overly concentrated, with attractive black fruits, grilled smoke and fresh mint leaf, well balanced with plenty of appellation signature and persistency through the finish. Pascal Chatonnet consultant. Yield 39hl/h yield from 5.8ha of sandy-clay soils. 40% new oak.
