The Châteauneuf-du-Pape Colombis is an amazing blend of four parcels from the northern part of the appellation: Colombis, Rayas, Cristia and Les Roues. This is made exclusively from Grenache, with the vines averaging 80 years in age. The terroirs there are quite exceptional, with sand, limestone and sandy granitic clays. The nose is delicate, fragrant, with rose petals and red-berry aromas, not purple or dark red fruit here. Everything is about terroir extraction, with a clean and fresh palate, fine-grained tannins and nice concentration and power. There are notes of bitter chocolate, with beautiful aromas of cherries, liquorice and raspberries. The finish is really long and persistent. Superb wine, all in delicacy and precision.

The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Colombis is also stunning, with an upfront, perfumed style in its wild strawberry and framboise-driven fruit as well as savory garrigue, spice, and floral nuances. Medium to full-bodied and flawlessly balanced, with fine tannins, it has a remarkable sense of elegance and finesse as well as ample richness and length.
One of the more elegant and racy wines at this address this year, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Colombis, crafted exclusively from Grenache Noir planted on safres, calcareous soils and a mix of other soils, displays a delicate, perfumed bouquet of rose, flowers, dark cherries, pepper and herbs. Medium to full-bodied, layered and racy, it's deep and concentrated with velvety tannins with a delicate core of fruit and a long, ethereal finish. Matured in a mix of foudres, concrete tanks and terracotta jars, this is an outstanding wine in the making.
