Tasting notes
There are a tiny 225 cases of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, a borderline perfect wine from Smith that reveals a deep purple hue as well as incredible red, blue, and black fruits that give way to cigar tobacco, iron, and graphite nuances with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, insanely elegant, with perfect balance and a great mid-palate, this is a smoking bottle of wine that readers should jump on. It should live for 30-40 years if well stored.

Winemaker Mike Smith blended five of the six blocks of fruit he received to craft the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard. Showing outstanding complexity and balance, the wine marries notes of black cherries with licorice, stunning florals and hints of dusty earth in a wine that's full-bodied, incredibly plush in texture and fabulously long on the finish.
A blockbuster of a wine, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard sports a dense purple hue as well as a mammoth-sized personality. Dark fruits, smoked tobacco, chocolate, and bouquet garni all emerge on the nose, and it's full-bodied, with a thrilling mid-palate and awesome tannins. This is riveting stuff, and I suspect it will be drinkable with just a few years of bottle age.
