The 2010 Mâcon-Pierreclos Tri de Chavigne is a youthful but brilliant rendition of this cuvée, unwinding in the glass with scents of citrus oil, green pear, white flowers and pastry cream. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, elegantly satiny and immensely incisive, with a racy spine of acidity, terrific depth at the core and a long, chalky finish. At one point, I drank over a case of this wine, and this bottle was just as great as I remember it.

The 2010 Mâcon-Pierreclos Tri de Chavigne has a tropical-tinged bouquet of mango and passion fruit aromas, perhaps displaying less terroir expression than the 2011 or 2012 but still utterly seductive. The palate is well balanced with a light lemon sherbet and mineral opening, and very harmonious toward the finish. This is still youthful after nine years and seems to gain edginess with aeration. I can see it improving with continued bottle age.
A very tough wine to make, according to Guffens. 'Modern wine people like it because of the minerality but I still think it’s too young.' Smells like a grand cru Chablis. Very intense. Nervy and steely. Lip smacking and reasonably open. (JR)
A little mealy on the nose. Tense and tight. Great structure on the palate but it’s a bit loose on the nose. Tricky to score but admirable that it’s still so exciting on the palate in 2016. (JR)
