Tasting notes
This monopole Premier Cru is a fifth of the size of Boillot’s prized Clos de la Mouchère. The 0.63-hectare walled vineyard is a lieu-dit within Les Cras, with stony soils – and it’s brilliant in 2022. A totally different beast to the opulent Genevrières, offering a much more linear expression. It is taut, linear and compact with bright lemon fruit – a zingy freshness that drives the wine. There’s an intense salinity here too, with a mineral lift to the finish. With air the wine softens a little, revealing chalky tones, yet the powerful structure remains – a wine of great potential. Aged in 60% new oak.
