Score 95/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Feb 2024

The voluptuous, exotic and showy 2020 Cirsion was produced with a blend of 88% Tempranillo and 12% Graciano. It has a velvety texture and a special tactile sensation with very fine tannins, chalky but also juicy and with a vibrant finish and very good acidity (is it the Graciano?). This has always been a very special wine, and in the last few years, the oak feels better integrated and folded into the fruit (despite being 100% new barrels), but it does lend a spicy and smoky twist to it. 6,704 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2022.

This is very precise with currants, raspberries, light vanilla and sandalwood. It turns to smoked meat and paprika with hints of white pepper. It\'s full-bodied yet very tight and compacted with juicy tannins and lots of flavor at the end. A selection of old vines, 80 or more years old. Eight months in 100% new French barrels. 88% tempranillo and 12% graciano. December 2023 release. This needs four or five years to come together.

The 2020 Cirsion is Tempranillo with 12% Graciano, aged 8 months in new oak. This reflects its warm vintage with ripe black fruit, plum, lactic and balsamic tones and polished oak. Generous on the palate, it has sweet tannins and a plush texture. This is a savory, modern Rioja with good length and flavor.
