Deep purple with a slightly muddy rim. Amazing colour. Prunes and interest on the nose. Real depth and integrity, Not just sweet but real concentration and ripeness plus dry savour of tannin on the finish. So ripe it is almost not refreshing though. (JR)

The dense purple-colored, seriously-structured 2000 Vau Vintage reveals outstanding ripeness in addition to abundant amounts of black currant, cassis, and mineral characteristics as well as firm tannin in the finish. Medium ruby. Sexy, superripe aromas of grapey dark fruits, mocha, maple syrup and roasted nuts. Very sweet, dense and full, with a glyceral texture and superripe, concentrated, sappy flavors of black raspberry and cherry liqueur. Pliant and approachable but with attractive framing acidity and solid spine. Finishes with fine, dusty tannins and excellent persistence; superripe notes of crystallized berries along with a hint of minty austerity.
