Score 89/100 · Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2013

The 2007 Skeffington has an open-knit bouquet with black fruit, tar, smoke and a touch of licorice – quite masculine and rather reserved. The palate is smooth on the entry, although there is a slight lull on the mid-palate, where perhaps the Port has entered a dumb phase. The middle and finish is nicely balanced and there is sufficient elegance to compensate for the lack of complexity. I would afford this Skeffington another two or three years in bottle. Tasted May 2013.

Blackish purple. Aromatic and a bit greenish on the nose. Not that pure – tastes just a bit tired. Definitely pruney. A bit hollow on the finish. Dry finish. (JR)

Discrete nose, ripe cherry with something of a fennel edge. Not so lush and voluptuous as the Croft 07. (RH)
