Tasting notes
The 2017 La Réserve de Malartic is deep garnet-purple in color and has a nose of cedar, black and red plums, blackberry pie, herbs, tobacco and earth. Medium-bodied and chewy, it is a little herbal and lean in the mouth and abrupt on the finish.

The 2017 La Réserve de Malartic has a simple but not unattractive nose with brambly red berry fruit mixed with brown spices, hoisin and sandalwood. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannins, although the middle and finish has sufficient earthy red fruit to keep everything balanced. My only quibble: it cuts away too swiftly on the finish.
The second wine of Malartic shows appealing plum and milk-chocolate character. Medium body, soft tannins and a medium finish. Drink now.
About the producer

One of few estates classified for both red and white wine production, Malartic-Lagravière was renovated entirely after the Bonnie family purchased it in 1996. They also expanded the property to its current 53 hectares.
