Tasting notes
The library release of the 2016 Pago Negralada also achieved 15% alcohol. This was a very fine vintage produced with healthy and ripe grapes. The wine matured for 17 months in French oak barrels, 66% of them new. I think the Tempranillo is aging more gracefully than their Cabernet. This has an aromatic profile of sweet Tempranillo fruit, with notes of cherries in liqueur and Mediterranean herbs, sleek and polished, holding it but fully mature for now. It will probably stay on a plateau for a while. They are releasing 1,000 bottles in 2025 from the 9,769 originally produced and bottled in May 2018.

Tempranillo. The Negralada vineyard is composed of sand and gravel and situated in the fresher area of this luxurious estate. 4,500 kg/ha. The wine ages for 18 months in French oak. Classic wine. Positively closed and needs decanting to be enjoyed. Slightly introvert at the moment; however, I think it has great potential. It has a perfect stream of black ripe fruit, accompanied by vanilla and toast. Very elegant, displaying sweet round tannins. I love the texture and the finesse it has. Remarkable bottle of wine. (FC)
