Tempier's 2016 Bandol Cuvee Classique was the only red I had a chance to taste from this historic domaine. A Mourvèdre-dominated wine (70% to 75%, depending on the vintage) blended from several vineyards and aged in foudres, it shows some leathery scents alongside vibrant purple fruit. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied, marked by almost painful acids, while the tannins are ripe and supple. I'd suggest decanting it a couple of hours ahead of serving if you decide to broach a bottle in the near term.
