Cask sample. Crazily heavy bottle. Very ripe fruit, just the right side of too much. Lacks the finesse expected of Pinot but will appeal to many with its full-throttle palate. (AWH)

The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose with slightly earthy red berry fruit, touches of crushed stone, slightly peppery (though this is de-stemmed like all Tollot-Beaut’s cuvées.) The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit. Good density here, maybe not the most tensile of the cuvées from the Domaine this vintage, but there is decent weight on the back end. Give it a couple of years in bottle.
