Tasting notes
From vines in the Quartier des Marei, Lachaux's 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is showing brilliantly, offering up aromas of dark berries and plums complemented by nuances of orange rind, rose petals, dark chocolate and incense. Medium to full-bodied, deep and complete, this is a concentrated but weightless Clos Vougeot of considerable dimension and structural finesse. This vintage represents another decisive qualitative leap for this cuvée.

The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a very mineral-driven bouquet, crushed rock aromas percolating through the raspberry and wild strawberry fruit and hints of wet limestone developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy opening and a fine bead of acidity. Quite bright in style, with superb tension on the finish. Very fine, although I hope it develops more substance over its second winter.
