Tasting notes
Hand-numbered magnum number 1,301 of 1,450 produced. Date of harvest: 5 October 2002. Impenetrable dark ruby with orange rim. Luxurious, almost rich blackberry and cassis nose with a minty, white pepper edge. And beautifully oaked. Black olive and abundance of succulent cherry fruit and gravelly tannins. Falters a little on the finish, but nevertheless undeniably delicious. (WS)

The 2002 Caberlot is another good choice for relatively early drinking. It displays notes of herbs, tobacco, menthol and ripe fruit, with a naturally more slender structure than the most important vintages of this wine. Given its less imposing concentration of fruit the new oak is also more evident in the 2002 than is usually the case.
