The 2000 Barolo Riserva Rüncot (magnum) is one of the most impressive Baroli I have ever tasted that was aged exclusively in 100% new French oak, in this case for 33 months. It remains a beautifully layered, perfumed Barolo graced with exquisite elegance and inner perfume. An explosive finish rounds things out in style. This is a stunning, breathtaking wine of the highest level.

Boasting a potent nose of spices, new oak, sweet fruit and chocolate, the 2000 Barolo Runcot is intense on the palate, with plenty of very ripe dark fruit and toasted oak flavors. Soft and supple, this accessible Barolo is drinking very well today, although the too-sweet fruit and excessive use of new oak threaten to throw it off balance. 2006-2015. Aromas of raspberry, dried flowers and cedary, spicy oak. Sweet, pliant and deep, with a floral element contributing to an impression of vinosity. Lively flavors of cherry, flowers and cedar. Quite complex on the back end, finishing with big, broad, dusty tannins and lingering notes of truffle and underbrush. I would not have picked this blind as having aged in 100% new barriques
