2020 Chambertin

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru is the one recent vintage that has never crossed my palate (until now). It has a slightly reductive, metallic-tinged nose, but underneath, there is some high-quality red fruit and plenty of mineralité . The palate is slightly richer and sweeter than other Chambertin in this flight, with candied orange peel filtering through the layered fruit. It's a little honeyed in texture towards the finish. Maybe more of a crowd-pleasing Chambertin…but still very delicious. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
