Tasting notes
Aromas of peonies, blood orange, rose petals and wild plums preface the 2019 Aloxe-Corton, a medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping wine with a lively core of fruit and deceptively melting tannins that reassert themselves on the gently chalky finish. It's a blend derived from clay-rich Valozières and sandier, more stony Caillettes.

The 2019 Aloxe-Corton Village comes from two very small parcels (Valozières Village and Les Caillettes) that yielded just one-and-a-half barrels. The very well-defined nose features crushed strawberry and cranberry aromas mixed with wild heather. The palate is medium-bodied with crushed stone infusing the red berry fruit. This feels fresh and vibrant, the stems neatly assimilated, leading to a long, tender finish. Excellent.
