Tasting notes
Verduno. Tasted blind. Lustrous mid ruby. Lifted appealing cherry nose with just a hint of leather. Supple and elegant, with supporting powdery tannins. Not too deep or long but pleasant. (WS)

With fruit from Verduno, the Bel Colle 2017 Barolo Monvigliero is a hot-vintage Nebbiolo that already shows some faint hints of faded fruit. The wine pours to a dark garnet color with medium transparency and ripe aromas with candied cherry, licorice, bramble and earth. There are some crushed flowers in there as well, highlighted by dried violets. Some 10,000 bottles were made.
The 2017 Barolo Monvigliero is more expressive with dried roses, cranberry, leather, and dusty earth. The palate is fresh and inviting, with a medium build noted by tea leaf and pomegranate pith. This is a pleasurable and refreshing wine from the Bel Colle estate. Drink 2021-2028.
