Tasting Notes
New to the range this year, this Premier Cru is on the Chassagne-Montrachet side of the village. This is much more reserved than Les Créots, but is offering much more than when we first tasted it in July of this year. Now, however, it has a little more sparkle, its potential just starting to shine through. At first it seems a little lighter than its sibling En Créots, but there’s such intensity to the fruit on the palate, and juicy mouth-watering freshness. You can feel the dry extract in the wine and the promise of what is to come in its long, intensely stony finish, and a hint of pleasing bitterness. Aged in a third new oak. The 2022 labels are one-offs, including a dedication to their son Pâris, who was born on 1st January 2022.

Outstanding - A smoky nose of Granny Smith apple and an abundance of citrus elements, even a touch of grapefruit, leads to slightly bigger and richer medium-bodied flavors that flash a more apparent stoniness on the more complex and longer finish that is just a bit more tightly wound. Recommended. Drink 2028+
The 2022 Saint-Aubin Les Combes 1er Cru has a generous bouquet with scents of baking apples, Conference pear and light granitic aromas. The palate is well-balanced with an assiduous application of oak (one-third new), very focused and taut with a twist of bitter lemon lending edge to the finish. It requires a little more sustain on the aftertaste. Otherwise, I could imagine finishing this far too quickly!
Pale colour though the nose is a little fatter and the oak may be more apparent. Broader on the palate, all in white fruit, fair flesh but not so persistent as En Créot.
About the producer

Alvina Pernot is one of the most exciting producers of white Burgundy today. Based in Puligny-Montrachet with some incredible vineyards, this is a name to watch – creating taut and mineral styles of white Burgundy.
