2016 Puligny Montrachet Champ Canet

Pale, bright straw-yellow. Aromas of white nectarine, flowers and spices are lifted by a dusty chalky quality. Juicy, savory wine with orchard and stone fruit flavors enlivened by minerals and spices. Offers lovely definition and energy and sexy inner-mouth perfume. Boillot started his harvest with this rocky parcel and no doubt that explains this wine's energy in 2016. But there's no shortage of silky texture here. A very good showing.

Bottled. So inviting, with that leesy richness combined with tangy spiced citrus of lemon and mandarin. On the palate it is quite full but seems a little flatter on the finish than the Referts. (JH)

Bright, light yellow. Expressive aromas of pineapple, spices and white flowers. More glyceral and saline than the preceding premier crus but with very good energy to its silky apple, anise and spice flavors. A step up in intensity and not at all overly sweet. The wine's rocky terroir gives it a firm finish. Boillot picked these vines first in 2016, on September 21 with 13.1% natural alcohol.
