Tasting notes
Crafted from vines planted on Brane's gravelly plateau, the 2022 Paveil de Luze bursts from the glass with aromas of rose, lilac, cassis, crushed mint and spices. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and rich, it has a fleshy core of fruit wrapped by velvety tannins and a long, penetrating and perfumed finish. This blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot is a real success, meeting expectations from the en primeur tastings.

Classic Margaux elegance and complexity emerge from the 2022 Château Paveil De Luze, a beautifully textured, medium-bodied effort that has upfront red and black fruits, some spicy, savory flower and graphite nuances, terrific overall balance, and outstanding length. Drink this seamless, pure, impressive Margaux over the coming 10-12 years or more.
The 2022 Paveil de Luze has an airy, well-defined and appealing bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow, thyme and cedar scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and acidity that maintains freshness. This is a "fluid" Cru Bourgeois, finishing with a sustained peppery note. I can see this aging well in bottle.
Cru bourgeois exceptionnel. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, on deep gravels. Yield 36 hl/ha. Aged for 12 months in barrels (30% new). Relatively pale garnet. Well-mannered but there are more exciting wines. Just a tad dull. ‘Correct.’ (JR)
