Tasting notes
The 2020 Riesling is made from three plots on the mid-slope of the Furstentum Grand Cru, on limestone. The nose brims with lifted hayflower and wild thyme. The palate has the inherent coolness of limestone, in complete contrast to the sunny ripeness of the fruit, a wonderful counterpoint of hot sun and cool stone, made mouth-watering with the flavor of salted lemon. The chalky stoniness becomes even more apparent on the finish. Hair-raising stuff with no residual sweetness at all. (Bone-dry)

The 2020 Riesling Grand Cru Furstentum is intense but very clear and delicate on the aromatic nose that intermingles pure terroir and stone notes with perfectly clear and ripe, bright Riesling aromas. On the palate, this is a silky, lush and firm, finely tannic, complex and powerful Riesling with a long and intense finish. The 2020 is very promising but still very young and will need either to be aerated hours before or cellared for two or three more years. The wine is tightly woven, lemony and saline on the finish and really compact. Clearly, it's a late starter. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2022.
