Score 93/100 · Drink 2016-2031, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2015
The 2011 Barolo shows why Fratelli Alessandria now belongs in the upper echelon of Barolo producers. Fresh, sensual and inviting, the 2011 captures the radiance of the vintage with no signs of overripeness or heaviness. Sweet floral notes, red stone fruits and tobacco are pushed forward in a sexy, open-knit Barolo that captures the best of the vintage. This is an ideal Barolo for near and medium-term drinking and for restaurants that can't cellar wines for long periods of time. Don't miss it. The 2011 is made from a blend of four sites in Verduno (Riva Rocca, Rocco dell' Olmo, Campasso and Boscatto) plus young vines in Gramolere, which is Monforte.
