Tasting notes
Virtually all Grenache, the 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape le Secret de Sabon offers up stunning aromas of pencil shavings and dark berries, plus hints of brighter, redder fruit as well—cherries and raspberries come to mind. Full-bodied and slightly open-knit, it's mouthwateringly juicy on the palate, with fine, silky tannins framing the lingering finish.

A beautiful ruby/purple color, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Secret Des Sabon offers appealing darker berries, violets, pepper, and meaty black cherries on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel that shows terrific finesse. A hidden gem in this challenging vintage, I'd be happy to drink this any time over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2025-2040.
The 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Secret de Sabon is a remarkably elegant rendition of this sought-after cuvée from Domaine Roger Sabon, almost reaching the same high altitude as the 2020. Coming it at 14.5% alcohol like all their other reds in 2021. Enticing aromas of forest strawberry, red plum, mint, licorice, dried herbs, white pepper and hints of rose petal waft from the glass. Layered and polished, there are absolutely no hard edges here. Enveloped in velvety tannins and showing great tension, it concludes with a long-lasting finish. Only 3,000 bottles produced.
