Closed with a copper-colored wax capsule, the 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva (with 8,000 bottles made) has hints of cherry liqueur and sweet crème de cassis on the bouquet, and there is some of the viscous nature of those descriptors in the mouthfeel. However, this pretty wine also shows depth and varietal clarity supported by medium structure.

The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva turns up the volume with its notable depth and textural resonance. Black cherry, spice, mocha and dried herbs are some of the many notes that build in the glass. A wine of substance and presence, the 2020 offers plenty of intensity, but is not at all overdone.
Gaiole. 100% Sangiovese. Certified organic. Youthful ruby. Hints of sour cherry and still a little closed. Cherry and dark earth. Lots of sour-cherry fruit on the palate and with finely ground tannins on the finish. Elegant rather than concentrated. (WS)
