Tasting notes
The highest vineyard, planted to selections from Hudson, Calera and Old Wente, the 2019 Chardonnay Ma Belle Fille offers up scents of crushed stone and pencil shavings on the nose but follows those up with lush notes of pear and melon on the full-bodied palate. It's round and rich, yet it comes together in a long, lime-riddled and incredibly elegant finish.

The 2019 Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille is one of the most reticent Chardonnays in this tasting. These parcels, the highest on the property, yield a Chardonnay of real energy and power. Calera, Wente and Hudson clones make for a complex, multi-dimensional Chardonnay with tons of personality. Readers have to be patient, though, as the 2019 is young and very tight.
This is really complex with the complete character profile of Peter Michael chardonnay. It’s full and very layered with a great center palate. Incredibly thought-provoking and satisfying. Dried apple and lemon with lightly toasted oak. Great finish. Changes all the time. Drink or hold.
The 2019 Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille is from an estate vineyard in Knights Valley, which is in Sonoma, just north of Napa Valley. Beautiful white flowers, honeysuckle, green almond, and chalky minerality all emerge from this beauty, and it's another full-bodied, rich, concentrated Chardonnay from this team that checks in with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Despite its richness level and decadence, it stays lively and fresh. This is straight-up brilliant Chardonnay!
